New PS5 games, accessories and platform features coming in 2023

We are humbled by the support for PS5 from our community and are passionate about growing the best lineup of PlayStation games we’ve ever delivered. Last week, players stepped into the world of Athia in Square Enix’s spellbinding new PS5 exclusive, Forspoken. With more anticipated games coming this year like Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Final Fantasy XVI, Hogwarts Legacy, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4: Remake and Street Fighter 6, as well as upcoming expansions like Destiny 2: Lightfall and Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, 2023 is shaping up to be an amazing year for PS5 players.

Annie Wersching, The Last of Us Game and 24 Actress, Dies at 45

Acclaimed actress Annie Wersching has passed away at the age of 45 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

As reported by Deadline, Wersching was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, yet continued her acting career, appearing in both Star Trek: Picard and The Rookie.

Wersching is best known for her roles as Renee Walker in the show 24, as well as Leslie Dean in Marvel’s Runaways. She is also well-known for her outstanding performance as Tess Servopoulos in the 2013 PlayStation game The Last of Us.

Neil Druckmann, co-creator of The Last of Us, posted on Twitter saying, “Just found out my dear friend, Annie Wersching, passed away. We just lost a beautiful artist and human being. My heart is shattered. Thoughts are with her loved ones.” He also posted a link to a GoFundMe that has been set up for her family.

Wersching is survived by her husband, actor Stephen Full, and her three children: Freddie, Ozzie, and Archie. Her husband also issued the following statement regarding her untimely passing, “There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’”

New Mario Bros. Movie Footage Shows Off Seth Rogan As Donkey Kong

“You got the cat box!”.

A new 30-second clip from the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie has just been released, and it focused on the character of Donkey Kong, voiced by Seth Rogan.

In the clip, we see Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt) drop into an arena filled with ‘Question Mark’ boxes. His first tussle with DK ends with him getting a savage beat-down, but Mario then bumps a box and becomes ‘Cat Mario’ – only to receive further scorn from Donkey Kong, the character he first faced back in 1981.

WWE Star Zelina Vega Joins Street Fighter 6 as a Commentator

WWE’s annual Royal Rumble event had plenty of exciting moments as wrestling’s biggest superstars fought for a title match spot at this year’s WrestleMania 39. One notable moment was Zelina Vega’s entrance during the women’s event where it was revealed that she will be lending her voice as a guest commentator in the upcoming Street Fighter 6.

Vega’s energetic entrance at the event saw her dressed as Juri Han from Street Fighter. You can watch the entire moment in the WWE tweet below.

Vega is no stranger to cosplay, having dressed up as a number of pop culture icons such as Mortal Kombat’s Kitana and Mileena, Nurse Joy from the Pokemon anime series, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Overwatch’s D.Va, Starlight from The Boys, and many more.

During her Royal Rumble entrance, it was also revealed that she will be a guest commentator in the upcoming Street Fighter 6. This is in addition to a number of FGC commentators like Tasty Steve and James Chen who will spice up the matches with what Capcom is calling its “Real Time Commentary Feature.”

IGN is also excited to announce that Zelina Vega will be at this year’s IGN Fan Fest talking about her participation in Street Fighter 6. IGN Fan Fest will run from Februrary 17-18, beginning at 10:00 AM PT.

Feature: Video Game Music That Didn’t Need To Go That Hard

It had no right!

There is a lot of video game music out there that goes hard. By “goes hard” we mean it slaps. By “it slaps” we mean it’s a bop. By “it’s a bop” we mea— forget it. These are tracks that are really good.

In the vast majority of these instances, the tracks match the situation pretty perfectly. A high-stakes moment in the game might be met by tense strings and an ever-rising pitch; action set-pieces might opt for a big brass statement of the main theme to emphasise your heroic movements; chilled-out hubs might provide some lighter tracks on the keys, bringing your pulse down if it’s generally an intense game or letting you fully relax into the world à la Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Co-op sub sim Barotrauma will leave early access this spring

Barotrauma is a co-op scifi submarine sim, which is a great thing to be. It’s been navigating the murky depths of early access for the past three years but is now prepping for a 1.0 this spring. Prepareations in this case mean “pre-patch” with “final fixes and changes” the development team wanted to make before the big release day comes, and a price increase in two weeks time.
