Here’s A Closer Look At The ‘Echoes’ In The New Zelda Game For Switch

Nintendo: “There are lots of echoes to discover”.

Since the Nintendo Direct last week, the company’s social media pages have been in overdrive promoting all of the new and upcoming releases. As usual, these same pages have also been detailing some of the finer points of each games, and in the latest update Nintendo has shared a graphic of some of the items Zelda will make use of in her new outing Echoes of Wisdom.

In case you missed the original announcement, ‘echoes’ are imitations of things Zelda can find within the game environment. She is able to do this with the help of the ‘Tri Rod’ and her new mysterious fairy friend, Tri.

Right then folks, the weekend’s here, which means it’s time to shake off the stress accumulated by the working week and settle down for some sweet gaming.

In the world of Nintendo, this week saw the launch of Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD for the Switch; a game that has undoubtedly caused a bit of controversy surrounding its price (along with another release landing in 2025…). We reviewed it, of course, and thought it was pretty darn good. Speaking of new releases, the file sizes for multiple upcoming Switch games were revealed via the Japanese eShop, and a couple of them were surprisingly large.

Nintendo Adds Multiple Upcoming Releases To Its Switch Voucher Program

Zelda, Mario & Luigi and more!

Nintendo’s latest Direct broadcast lifted the lid on all sorts of upcoming releases including new entries in the Zelda and Mario & Luigi series, and if you’re wondering how you’re going to be able to purchase them all, you might want to make use of some game vouchers.

In North America, Europe and certain other parts of the world, Nintendo has added these newly announced games to its voucher program – allowing you to acquire two games for the price of $99.98 / £84.00 (or your regional equivalent). The catch is, you’ll need to be a Switch Online member.

Konami’s Metal Gear Producer Would Love To Work With Hideo Kojima

“If that could happen, it would be the dream.”.

The famous Konami series Metal Gear Solid is now being guided by producer Noriaki Okamura, and apparently “the dream” for him would be to work with the original team including industry legend Hideo Kojima.

During an official Metal Gear livestream this week, Okamura admitted he’s not in the position to answer on “behalf of anyone outside the company” but would personally “like nothing better than to work with Mr. Kojima and the rest of the team again” (thanks, VGC).

Nintendo Live Suspect Admits To Threats, Blames Being A Sore Loser

“When I kept losing, I became increasingly frustrated”.

The suspect accused of sending threats to Nintendo and attending audiences during the now-cancelled Nintendo Live event in Tokyo earlier this year has now admitted to the charges (thanks, Splatoon Torikara).

What’s more, when explaining the motive behind his threats, the 27-year-old individual blamed his actions on… get this… losing at games.

Random: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Cutscenes Get The Game Boy Treatment

Warning: spoilers abound.

Even just one year after The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom‘s launch in May 2023, its story, cutscenes, and music have already reached legendary status among fans. Heck, even the pre-launch trailers gave us all kinds of goosebumps. Honestly, though, we never would have expected a Game Boy ‘demake’ of the title to illicit such a similar response.

Alas, a selection of cutscenes from the game has been given a stunning Game Boy treatment alongside its iconic music, courtesy of YouTube channel, uh… ‘it‘. We get to see the opening sequence of the game in which Zelda and Link stumble across… something… alongside a look at some of its closing moments. So just be wary if you’ve yet to finish Tears of the Kingdom – this is pretty spoilerific.

A release date has finally been confirmed.

Update : Skunkape Games has shared a new update about the release date of Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse Remastered, confirming it will be released for all platforms (including the Nintendo Switch) on 14th August 2024.

Knuckles Physical Blu-ray And DVD Release Arrives Later This Year

The Paramount series will include a bunch of special features.

The Sonic the Hedgehog series ‘Knuckles‘ made its debut on Paramount earlier this year and it was generally well-received. If you haven’t already watched it or would just like a hard copy, you’re in luck. As previously confirmed a Blu-ray and DVD is on the way and we’ve now got a bit more information about it.

It will apparently be arriving later this year in September according to some updated online listings. Along with all six episodes, we now also know it will come packed with a bunch of special features including: “gag reel, cast featurette, working with Knuckles, this or that? and Knuckles impressions”.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership Box Art Has Been Officially Revealed For Switch

“Take a look”.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership kicked off the latest Direct broadcast and although we’ve already seen a fair bit of footage of the game, one thing Nintendo hasn’t properly shown off just yet is the game’s box art. Yes, it’s been featured in listings here and there, but now in the latest update it’s been given an official reveal via social media.

As you see it shows the famous duo, a new character called Snoutlet and a little bit of the world Mario and Luigi are about to explore, known as Concordia. An empty background similar to Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey also returns. As noted by Nintendo, pre-orders for this game have also gone live.
