Acclaimed TMNT Graphic Novel ‘The Last Ronin’ Is Getting A Video Game

No dates or platforms announced.

A brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game based on The Last Ronin, the 2020 graphic novel miniseries, is currently in development. Doug Rosen, Paramount Global’s senior vice president for games and emerging media, confirmed this in an interview with Polygon.

The Last Ronin is a critically-acclaimed graphic novel in the TMNT series which is set in the future and stars only one of the turtles — all of the others have since been exterminated, including Splinter (we won’t tell you which turtle has survived, of course). The miniseries spans five issues between 2020 and 2022, and was written by Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird, Tom Waltz, and Andy Kuhn, with art from Kuhn and Ben Bates, who’s known for contributing to Archie’s Sonic the Hedgehog comics.

Review: Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist Of The End & The Secret Key – A Perfect End To The Best Atelier Trilogy

Going out on a thigh note.

Gust’s long-running Atelier series has come on leaps and bounds over the past few years. Its various recent appearances on Switch in particular display a steely determination on the part of the Japanese developer to step up with its JRPG franchise and make a concerted effort to rub shoulders with the big guns. In Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, it feels like it’s hit a new high, serving up the best Atelier adventure yet and a game that fans and newcomers to the series should find plenty to be delighted by.

For the most part, the Atelier series has switched out its main protagonist for each entry in this 27-year-old franchise. However, Ryza — whether due to popularity or as part of an overall plan — finds herself helming her third outing in a trilogy that’s seen her grow from an innocent child stumbling into the world of magic to the well-renowned and sought-after alchemist we meet at the beginning of this final chapter. In affording Ryza time to grow and develop over such a long arc and allowing her friends to follow and grow alongside her, Gust has managed to imbue the narrative with an emotional depth not previously seen in the series, and they really do dig into this aspect here.

Talking Point: What’s The Best Year In Gaming?

Cream of the crop.

Games are so good, right?

Looking back over the years and decades, it’s difficult to actually think of a year that’s been objectively bad in terms of gaming output; generally speaking, with the wealth of consoles and developers out there, there’s always been at least a handful of games every year that spoke to us in a meaningful way and made a positive impact.

Nibbling away.

Wave 4 is almost here.

Wave 4 of the Fire Emblem Engage Expansion Pass lands on 4th April — or 5th April in Europe. And for Fire Emblem fans, this is likely the most exciting addition yet, as it brings in brand-new story content.

In an ominous trailer, which starts off with “your grave”, the Fell Xenologue will bring more story content to the base game, which is separate from the chapter structure, and will introduce brand new characters Ned and Nil. The pair say there are seven ‘Emblem Bracelets’, and four are missing — meaning there may well be some characters coming back to the fray.

Oh myyyy.

Hideki Kamiya is known for making quite bullish claims, but this one definitely takes the biscuit.
