Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Bayonetta Origins: Cereza And The Lost Demon

Is it magical?

The Umbra Witch is back this Friday, but not in the way you might expect. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is a prequel to PlatinumGames’ hit high-octane action series, but this prequel stars the young witch long before she becomes Bayonetta.

Reviews dropped today and they’re pretty positive for the top-down action-adventure game. The gorgeous storybook graphics and the puzzles have received praise across the board, as have the music and atmosphere. But where do reviews diverge?

Citizen Sleeper Is One Of 2022’s Best Games, And Its Final Free DLC Launches This Month

Wake up, one last time.

Citizen Sleeper, a tabletop-inspired RPG, completely blew us away last year with its incredible writing, haunting music, and stunning art design. And on 30th March, the story will conclude with its last piece of free DLC with Episode: PURGE.

Following on from the two previous free DLCs — FLUX and REFUGE — PURGE introduces another new character and some additional story to Erlin’s Eye, and will conclude the story of the Sleeper and expand further on the wider narrative of the Helion System, where the game is set. Not much else is known, but we’re sure it’ll be a moving, thought-provoking experience.

An origami queen.

Norwich-based developer Newfangled Games’ upcoming puzzler is a stunning-looking top-down adventure where the world is made out of paper. Paper Trail has a soft colour palette and a unique visual style to it, but rather than just being a visual quirk, you can fold, crease, and change the paper world around you.

Paper Trail is set to launch this year on Switch and all platforms — including a newly-announced Netflix release. In the game, a young girl called Paige (get it?) is leaving home for the first time to study. You’ll need to help Paige by using your paper-craft skills by folding and unfolding the world to make a path.

Random: Pikachu Was Originally Going To Talk Like Meowth In Pokémon Anime, Says Director

Speakachu.

It’s no secret that Ash Ketchum and Pikachu will soon be leaving the Pokémon anime for good, capping off a storyline that has lasted for the best part of 25 years. Despite being in the company of these characters for so long, it turns out that there are still some notable aspects of each that we didn’t know, like, for example, that Pikachu was originally going to speak… like a human (thanks, Go Nintendo).

Ok, maybe not exactly like a human, but definitely like Team Rocket’s Meowth (which is still a whole lot wider vocabulary than we would want to hear from Pikachu).

Talking Point: Which Pokémon-Themed Nintendo Console Has The Best Design?

The very best…

Back in January, we ran down every Zelda-themed Nintendo console out there in an attempt to find which one you lovely lot thought was the best. There were a lot of these Hylian designs, with the series clearly standing as one of Nintendo’s most popular choices in the special edition design room, but these are dwarfed in number by the Pokémon designs, which require a Pokédex-length list all of their own.

Ok, that might be a bit of an over-exaggeration, but the point stands that throughout the history of Nintendo’s special edition console releases, there have been a lot of Pokémon designs.

Bowser Defends $70 Zelda Pricing, Nintendo Still “Very Bullish” About Switch

“It’s exciting to see that demand is still there”.

While the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom might just be the most highly-anticipated video game of all time, the announcement that the title would cost $70 on release opened up the conversation about how much we are all willing to pay for a game in 2023.

Doug Bowser, the head of Nintendo USA, has recently defended the price point of the Breath of the Wild follow-up in an interview with AP News, in which he reaffirmed the company’s stance that this is not Nintendo’s standard pricing going forward and all games will be judged on an individual basis.
