Tetris 99 has announced its next event is for Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, released on the Switch back in February.
This event will begin later this week on 21st April and will run until 24th April. If you participate and accurate 100 points, you’ll receive a new theme featuring background art, music, and Tetrimino designs inspired by the game.

We’ve all had the weekend to sit and stew over the final pre-launch trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (meaning, watching it another 100+ times) and it is fair to say that we are pretty jazzed for this game now.
We’re excited to see the changes made to Breath of the Wild‘s Hyrule, Link’s new abilities, just what the heck is going on with the story, but most of all, we’re excited to see more of this new take on Ganondorf which, after being officially revealed last week, quickly got the internet a little, erm, hot under the collar.

Flipping the bird for over three-quarters of a billion dollars.
Following rumours that Sega was penning a deal to purchase Finnish firm Rovio — the maker of Angry Birds — the Japanese company has made it official.
A statement released on its website (Japanese only at present) confirms that the deal is signed following an offer made by Sega through its European branch. The total purchase price stands at €706 million, which is north of $775 million at the current exchange rate but less than the rumoured $1 billion figure doing the rounds online over the weekend.

It’s been a while since Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone shared any information about the 1.6 update coming to his lifestyle-farming simulation Stardew Valley.
Now, in an update, the creator has revealed he’s taking a temporary break from his new project Haunted Chocolatier to work on Stardew 1.6. This next version will be “mostly changes for modders”, but he also mentions how there will be some new game content.

Gruigi time?
The box office for The Super Mario Bros. Movie is huge. Like, record-breaking huge. It feels like yesterday that cries of “the video game movie curse” filled the air whenever a new take on a game hit cinemas, but now we know that these adaptations can be both good and big. Really big.
The Mario Movie’s success at the box office will undoubtedly spawn at least one sequel and we’d be surprised if the spin-offs end there (might we be looking at the start of the NCU?). In the past, we thought about the potential for other animation studios to take the reins on some of Nintendo’s much-loved franchises — we still stay awake at night thinking of a Metroid film in the style of Into the Spiderverse — but it looks like, for the time being at least, future Nintendo movies will be firmly in the hands of Illumination.
