Feature: Pikmin Tier List – Which Pikmin Type Is The Best?

Pik of the bunch.

We are just a few weeks away from the release of Pikmin 4, which is set to add two brand-new types of our leaf-headed companions into the Pik ‘n’ mix. Ice and Glow Pikmin will be joining the lineup of seven other mainline types on 21st July, so we thought that now would be the perfect time to take a look back and rank all of those that we have seen so far to establish who is likely to make it into our squad.

While you do get to take the newly-added Ice Pikmin for a spin in the Pikmin 4 demo, we have decided to leave them off the following list for now since we can’t say that we have been able to see their full capabilities just yet. Who knows what icy challenges await… or not.

Random: Sakurai Explains Why True Twin-Stick Controls Weren’t Possible For Kid Icarus: Uprising

And yes, he still wants that Switch port.

In his latest video in the ‘Game Concepts’ series, Masahiro Sakurai once again goes back to Kid Icarus: Uprising. This time, the legendary game designer breaks down the game’s “unique” control scheme and explains the difficulties that the team had in developing the title.

Part on-rails shooter, part third-person shooter, Uprising has a slightly unusual control scheme that even Sakurai notes “takes some getting used to” — moving Pit with the Circle Pad and using the touchscreen to change the camera angle and aim attacks wasn’t the easiest to grasp, we’ll admit. Over the years, we wondered why a title such as this didn’t make the most of Nintendo’s Circle Pad Pro — the 3DS accessory that connected to the handheld to add an extra circle pad and shoulder buttons — to implement true twin-stick controls, but it turns out that there was a very simple answer: space.

New Persona 5 Tactica Character Spotlight Showcases Joker, Morgana And Erina’s Skills

Let the roster review begin.

We are still a little way off Persona 5 Tactica making its way over to Switch on 17th November, but it’s never too early to start planning which characters are going to make it into your squad, right?

Fortunately, Atlus is here to make that planning period a little easier as it took to the Anime Expo yesterday to reveal the first in a series of ‘Character Spotlight’ trailers. It looks like the purpose of these is all about helping us get an idea of each character’s skillset, with this first one (above) highlighting the abilities of Joker, Morgana and newcomer Erina.

Super Mario RPG Director Was “Very Surprised” By The Switch Remake Announcement

He is “not involved in the remake”.

Arguably the biggest surprise at the most recent Nintendo Direct was the announcement of Super Mario RPG for the Switch. It’s a remake of Square’s 1996 RPG with updated 3D graphics and cinematics.

As excited as fans were, one other person who was equally as surprised by this announcement was Chihiro Fujioka – one of the original directors of this classic. In a brief exchange with a fan on social media, Fujioka revealed he wasn’t involved in this updated version, adding he was “very surprised” but also incredibly “pleased” by the announcement.

Review: Everybody 1-2-Switch! – Family-Friendly Fun That Lacks Longevity

Horace the Horse is no prized pony.

Many of us will have seen the meme format that goes “If I had a nickel for every time , I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?”. It’s a phrase that we could apply to a wide range of gaming scenarios, but having played Everybody 1-2-Switch!, the successor to 2017’s 1-2-Switch, we couldn’t help but be reminded of it.

Essentially, “if we had a nickel for every time Nintendo followed up a series-defining Zelda title with a mediocre party game, we’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice”.

Tsukihime: A Piece Of Blue Glass Moon Will Get First Official English Localisation In 2024

Type-Moon’s breakout visual novel.

Yesterday’s Anime Expo 2023 announcement will be one for Melty Blood fans. Developer Type-Moon revealed that its first-ever visual novel, Tsukihime, will be making its Western debut in 2024 — almost 24 years after it was first released in Japan.

This version will be based on the 2021 remake, called Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon. This is only the second Type-Moon visual novel to receive an official English localisation, after last year’s Witch on the Holy Night. While the announcement was cut off from the end of the Fate/Grand Order anniversary panel livestream, someone managed to snap a picture of the reveal, which was then shared online by RPG Site‘s HD_Kirin.

Feature: Donkey Kong Cymru: The Extremely Brief History Of Welshness In Nintendo Games

Hiraeth of Hyrule.

It’s a uniquely Welsh experience. I’ve never been Scottish, or Irish, or Latvian, but those that have inform me when you tell someone where you’re from, the response typically isn’t “What’s that?”.

For the Welsh, that basic icebreaker question from anyone outside the UK usually prompts a deep breath and, regardless of whether you’ve got the time, a brief structured lesson on geography, history, and the world’s coolest flags. Wales, to most of the world, is a silent enigma. A country without footprint.

Our picks for the best Switch eShop games in June.

Hello July! We’re in the full heat of summer now, which means we’re halfway through 2023. What a year for video games so far, eh?

That means that it’s time to look back at June for this month’s eShop Selects. A lot of us are still playing Tears of the Kingdom, of course, but we’ve had a solid one on the eShop front, helped by the many summer gaming showcases and a Nintendo Direct.
