Today saw the launch of the long-time-coming Princess Zelda and Ganondaddydorf amiibo for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Did you get them? Against his better judgement, this writer caved and pre-ordered both. How else are you going to get those absolutely vital paraglider fabric unlocks in TOTK, eh?

Yes, the toys-to-life craze may have been a fad in the mid-2010s, and Nintendo’s line of NFC figures (and cards) was essentially an experimental side project as the firm sought to diversify and distract while regrouping during The Lean Wii U Years™, but amiibo, somehow, are still going in 2023.

My Time At Sandrock Receives Extensive Update, Here Are The Patch Notes

Developer Pathea Games has launched an extensive patch for My Time at Sandrock following its launch on the Switch on November 2nd, 2023.

Our review of the game covered a number of technical issues at launch, and while we’ve been informed that this patch won’t solve everything we noted, it will at least go toward fixing many glaring problems.

Reminder: The New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom amiibo Are Now Available

WarioWare: Move It! isn’t the only Nintendo release today. In case you missed it, Nintendo is also launching two brand new amiibo today based on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Following on from the release of Link back in May, today sees the arrival of Princess Zelda and Ganondorf. As previously revealed, these amiibo will both unlock two new paraglider fabrics for Link’s paraglider in Tears of the Kingdom.

Japanese Charts: Metal Gear Solid Can’t Sneak Past Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Another Mario-tastic week.

The latest Japanese charts are in via Famitsu (thanks, Gematsu) and it’s another stellar week for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which remains at the top of the pile after selling a further 163,176 copies.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 makes its debut this week, and despite the frame rate issues, the Switch version comes in at number two with 19,330 units sold, beating out the PS5 version by 5,613 units.

Hands On: Super Mario RPG Is The Most Faithful Remake We’ve Ever Played

A legendary star.

Take a look at any Best Super NES RPG list and you’ll see a veritable bounty of genre favourites. Chrono Trigger. Final Fantasy VI. EarthBound. Terranigma. Dragon Quest V. The fact that Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars often finds itself on those lists is a real testament to its status as a classic.

In 2023, we’re getting the chance to relive the origins of Mario’s RPG adventures in Super Mario RPG, a Switch remake of the 1996 original, which saw Nintendo and Square team up to blend Mario’s colourful platforming charm with traditional turn-based RPG mechanics. And, after playing through the first three hours of this remake, we’ve been reminded of just why Super Mario RPG is often considered not only one of the best SNES RPGs but one of the best RPGs ever.

We have covered the work of YouTube channel RwanLink on Nintendo Life before (you might remember the 3D animator’s gorgeous renditions of Zora’s Domain and Lake Hylia in Unreal Engine 5), but this latest project might just take the biscuit for things that we really, really want to see Nintendo make a reality — as unlikely as that is.
