Nintendo’s Latest Patent Hints At Joy-Con Mouse Support For OG Switch

Plus, another mysterious controller is included.

A new patent from Nintendo was recently made public which seems to confirm that, yes, the upcoming Switch 2 will indeed feature mouse support. Phew.

However, upon digging into the patent a bit more, we discovered a couple of additional nuggets that might be of some interest. Namely, it appears that Nintendo has showcased what looks to be a Joy-Con for the original Switch with the additional optical sensor on the side (alongside that extra ‘C’ button below the Home button, by the way – don’t ask us why it’s missing on the left image below).

Review: Turbo Overkill (Switch) – Ridiculous, Relentless Boomer Shooter Gets A Solid Port

The name’s Turbo. Johnny Turbo.

Ask any “boomer shooter” aficionado what their favourite modern examples of the genre are, and Trigger Happy Interactive’s sublime Turbo Overkill will most likely make the top three, alongside Dusk and Ultrakill, if they want to be our actual pals.

Yep, this is a highly-regarded retro-style FPS and, once you’ve spent just a few minutes in the blood-soaked shoes of Johnny Turbo, it’s not very hard to see why. And now, nearly two years after its full PC release, it’s finally on Switch.

Japanese Charts: Donkey Kong Is Still The King Despite Diminishing Sales

Another win checked off.

Famitsu has provided the latest boxed charts data for Japan and, perhaps unsurprisingly at this point, it’s another win for Nintendo as Donkey Kong Country Returns HD claims the top spot once again with an additional 22,093 units shifted.

There are a few new additions this week, with Black Myth: Wukong getting a physical release on the PS5, and the delightfully titled Cardfight!! Vanguard Dear Days 2 making its debut on the Switch. Nippon Ichi Software’s Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero also just managed to scrape though to land at number nine.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Digital File Size Seemingly Reduced

Save some space.

Ahead of the release of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition next month, Nintendo has supposedly updated the file size of the Switch release.

Listings online previously suggested the game would take up around 15 GB of space and now the estimated file size on the Switch eShop says the game will require an installation of 13.4 GB (thanks, necrolipe). So it seems Monolith Soft and Nintendo have found a way to save some space! In comparison, the Wii U version was around 20+ GB all up.
