Fortnite Announces Age Ratings Update, Restricts Cosmetics

Epic says it will enable most of the outfits “next year”.

Epic’s popular battle royale Fortnite has just received an “age ratings” update, but it’s not gone down so well with the community. This update means islands will now display an age and content rating to help guardians and players “make informed play decisions”.

As highlighted by Eurogamer, it’s left some players frustrated, as popular cosmetics are now unusable in certain parts of the game due to these age requirements. Some members of the community have even compared this Fortnite update to the Roblox model.

Hands On: KarmaZoo’s Sweet Shape-Shifting Platforming Is All About Sharing The Love

We all need somebody to Lion.

We didn’t really know what to make of KarmaZoo when it was first revealed in this year’s Wholesome Direct. The co-op platformer from Devolver Digital and Pastagames looked sweet, for sure, but pretty pixel-art platforming is hardly a rare species in the jungle that is the Switch eShop. What was going to be the hook to separate this one from the rest of the pack? The answer: Sharing the love.

Of course, helping your teammates get to the goal should be the objective of any team-based platforming (we say, as our mind furiously flashes back to memories of being thrown off cliffs in New Super Mario Bros. Japanese Charts: Strong PlayStation Sales Can’t Knock Mario Wonder From The Top Spot

Taking the throne for the fourth week in a row.

The latest Japanese charts are in from Famitsu (via Gematsu) and it has been yet another strong one for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which once again out-jumps the competition to land in the top spot with another 65,017 copies sold.

While Mario’s latest 2D adventure closes in on the one milly mark in Japan, it has been a noticeably good week for PlayStation with the releases of Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III hitting both the PS4 and PS5 to dominate the top half of the charts. Like A Dragon’s next-gen launch narrowly misses out on the top spot with 63,319 sales, while Call of Duty’s PS5 release lands in fourth with 22,132.

It’ll be here in a flash.

Developer and publisher Microids has launched Flashback 2 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, though unfortunately, it looks like Switch owners will need to wait a little longer, specifically until sometime in Q1 2024.

The game, developed with original Flashback creator Paul Cuisset, is a direct sequel to the 1992 Amiga original while presumably ignoring the events of Fade to Black, a 1995 sequel developed by Delphine Software International.
