Charles Martinet Will Make A Special Guest Appearance At Nintendo Live 2024

The former voice actor of Mario is now an ambassador.

Earlier this year, Nintendo announced Charles Martinet would no longer be the voice of Mario, but would stay on as a Mario ambassador. Martinet even admitted at the time he wasn’t even sure what it exactly it meant.

With this mind, Nintendo has now shared an update about the events to feature at Nintendo Live 2024, taking place in Tokyo next year, and one of the special segments will be a Mario-themed one titled “Mario Dojo”. According to the official website, Charles will be appearing as a special guest.

Soapbox: Ocarina Of Time’s Water Temple Was Tough, But It Doesn’t Deserve Its Reputation

Blue weighed shoes.

November 21st, 2023 marked the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s Japanese launch. To mark this historic Hyrulean occasion, we’re running articles throughout the week dedicated to the game, our memories, and its legacy. Today, Jim looks back on one of the series’ most notorious temples…

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was the first game that I ever played. Yes, Little Jim had to use a guide for a lot of it and I’d be lying if I said that he was in any way a completionist about the whole thing (Gold Skulltula? Never heard of it, mate) but I do distinctly remember playing the infamous Water Temple for the first time. It’s a story that I’m sure many of us can recount but, here’s the thing, I remember taking no issue with it.

Review: Irem Collection Volume 1 (Switch) – Three Great Games, But One Slim Package

After image.

Founded in 1974, Irem, then known as IPM Co. Ltd, began as a distributor and assembler of arcade machines for general stores and other small independent businesses. It wasn’t until 1978 that the relabelled company released its own software.

Despite being shoot-’em-up focused, the Irem Collection Volume 1 sidesteps R-Type, the obvious choice, to deliver three alternative titles and their associated ports. Image Fight is a 1988 arcade game that made a strong impression in Japan. Although not instantly apparent owing to its extreme difficulty, it’s a brilliantly executed game that demands deconstruction, and famously inspired Hiroshi Iuichi in conceiving Treasure’s Radiant Silvergun.

Review: Jurassic Park: Classic Games Collection (Switch) – A Fair Flock, But Far From ‘Classic’

Tyrannosaurus Rekt?

Whilst there’s absolutely no doubt as to the continued popularity of the Jurassic Park/World franchise in 2023, the Jurassic Park: Classic Games Collection from Limited Run Games, which features a total of seven titles from the 8- and 16-bit eras exclusively, is a bit of a lacklustre offering for eager dino fans, one that focuses on a selection of titles that don’t particularly stand up very well to any sort of scrutiny 30 years down the line.

Yes, that’s right. 30 years. 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Steven Spielberg’s blockbusting dino-spectacular, a film that had the 15-year-old version of this particular writer busy cutting out hundreds of pictures of half-naked Jeff Goldblum from movie magazines, collecting any and all related dino tat, and developing an unhealthy obsession with how plausible it would be to fight and defeat a raptor barehanded (we were also very good at mimicking the mating call of a Gallimimus, but perhaps that’s a story for another time).
