Monkey Island-Inspired ‘Lil’ Guardsman’ Gets A Bunch Of New Info

Developer Hilltop Studios has revealed a whole bunch of new information about its upcoming adventure game Lil’ Guardsman in an extended blog post titled ‘Visitor’s Guide to The Sprawl‘.

Launching on Switch in “the coming months” (specific date currently unknown), Lil’ Guardsman contains gameplay inspired by Papers, Please in a colourful high-fantasy world inspired by classic ’90s LucasArts adventure classics like Monkey Island.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Has Been Updated To Version 3.0.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

After the massive final content update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe earlier this month in the form of ‘Wave 6’ of the Booster Course Pass, Nintendo has now released Version 3.0.1.

Random: Players Are Recreating Mario Wonder’s Musical Moments In Mario Maker 2

In a game full of memorable moments, one of Mario Wonder‘s more out-there sequences has to be the ‘Piranha Plants on Parade’ musical number. This Wonder effect completely took us by surprise on our first playthrough and has certainly stuck in our heads ever since. Fortunately, it looks like we were not alone in our admiration as some talented players have managed to recreate the musical moment in Super Mario Maker 2.

In case the sequence in question has slipped your mind, this is the moment where your standard platforming level turns into an all-singing and (some) dancing routine thanks to some very well-choreographed Piranha Plants. Microsoft’s desire for an always-online Xbox One to be the only piece of tech you’ll ever need in your living room didn’t sit well with gamers, not least because games seemed to be an afterthought, with the firm more concerned about ensuring you were connected to its entertainment ecosystem at all times. 10 years on, however, the landscape for gaming and other media is somewhat different. While Microsoft undoubtedly botched the messaging a decade ago, was it really such a bad idea?

Skater XL Finally Sticks A Switch Release Date

Grinding onto Nintendo’s hybrid system this December.

If you’re looking for another skateboard fix on the Switch, it seems Easy Day Studios will finally be releasing Skater XL on the hybrid device this December.

Yes, after bailing on a Switch release way back in 2020, the developer has now locked in a 5th December 2023 release fo the price of $39.99 USD. We’ve even got a new trailer to confirm this, so it seems it’s really happening this time! The developer has also confirmed 60 FPS for the platform across both modes.

UK Charts: Super Mario RPG Tumbles Out Of The Top Ten

Super Mario Bros. Wonder jumps up a place.

This week’s UK physical charts are in, and as Black Friday fades into the background and the Holiday season approaches, EA Sports FC 24 reclaims the top spot.

The Nintendo Switch version of the latest soccer title from EA makes up 24% of the sales, while the PS5 version claims the majority with 50% of sales. It’s ahead of Hogwarts Legacy (where the Switch version makes up 39% of sales) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.
