Rare’s famous bear and bird duo Banjo-Kazooie made a return via Nintendo’s Switch Online service last year, and ever since then, fans have been calling for a proper comeback. There have even been some rumours doing the rounds about a possible revival, so what are the chances of something like this ever happening?

In the same interview with Windows Central, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer passed on a message to fans, mentioning how he’s aware of these requests, but it comes down to finding the right team and the right opportunity to revisit these iconic 90s mascots. Here it is in full:

Phil Spencer: There Are “No Plans” To Bring Xbox Game Pass To Nintendo Platforms

Microsoft’s Gaming CEO provides an update.

Earlier this week, Xbox’s CFO Tim Stuart claimed there was a “mission” to bring Game Pass to “every screen” it possibly could including Nintendo devices.

Now, during an interview with Windows Central, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has shared an update, mentioning how there are actually “no plans to bring Game Pass to PlayStation or Nintendo”. Here’s exactly what he had to say:

Random: Waluigi Designer Shares Scrapped Character Art Of “Walpeach”

Right back at the start of this year, we discovered that after inventing Waluigi, the team behind Mario Tennis, Camelot Software Planning, was planning another ‘Wa’ variant of Princess Peach. It was a shudder-inducing thought, we’ll admit, and one that was rejected by Shigeru Miyamoto before even looking at the designs. But now, those very designs are seeing the light of day.

Fumihide Aoki, the father of Waluigi and character designer on the Mario Tennis GameCube follow-up, Mario Power Tennis, has today shared his initial sketches of “Walpeach”, an evil inversion of the Mushroom monarch that was left on the cutting room floor.

Random: Sakurai Wanted The GameCube Controller To Include A Scroll Wheel

“I want to choose fast!”.

Masahiro Sakurai has revealed that during the development of the Nintendo GameCube, he had suggested that a scroll wheel be implemented into the design of the controller.

In his latest YouTube video, Sakurai explains the reasoning behind the suggestion, stating that a scroll wheel might have several useful functions for players. The obvious is that it would allow users to move between menu options quickly and efficiently, but he also noted that it would allow for easy manipulation of an in-game camera, or for choosing between items and abilities.

Switch Online Expands The N64 Library With Another Game Today (Japan)

Rare’s Jet Force Gemini is back.

Nintendo has now added the N64 classic Jet Force Gemini to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack service. The catch is, it appears to only be available in Japan right now. If there’s an update, we’ll let you know, but right now it’s locked in for a “December” release here in the west.

Jet Force Gemini is a third-person shooter which was originally released in 1999. It stars Juno, Vela and Lupus who must put a stop to an insectoid threat. This game was also developed by the talented team at Rare. GoldenEye 007 happens to be the other N64 release in Japan this week.
