Vampire Survivors’ Upcoming DLC Features An Out Of This World Among Us Collaboration

“bullet hell… in space!”.

Revealed as a “one more thing” announcement at today’s Day of the Devs digital showcase, Poncle announced that Vampire Survivors will be landing an all-new DLC package, featuring a collaboration with… wait for it… Among Us.

We don’t know all that much about what the DLC will have in store at the time of writing apart from that it will see some familiar crewmates thrown into a space-set version of the bullet hell roguelike that we haven’t been able to take our eyes off this year. Interesting, right?

Eastward’s Farm Sim DLC Will Sprout Onto Switch January 2024

“Welcome to a parallel world of Eastward: population… growing!?”.

Pixpil’s gorgeous adventure game Eastward is getting farming DLC, and it’s out on 31st January 2024 on Nintendo Switch. The date was revealed during the Wholesome Snack presentation, which followed Day of the Devs Game Awards showcase.

Eastward: Octopia was announced earlier this year and is set in a parallel world where Sam and John don’t need to worry about the miasma that plagues the main game. So this is a much more relaxing experience than the base game! We also have to appreciate the cheeky little Animal Crossing in the YouTube description. “Population…. growing!?” We see you, Chucklefish.

‘Armello’ Developer League Of Geeks Lays Off Over Half Its Staff

“We are so very sorry”.

League of Geeks, the developer behind the acclaimed Switch game Armello, has announced that over 50% of its staff have been made redundant.

In total, 31 people have been laid off following “unprecedented withdrawal of funding opportunities” within the industry, along with rising operation costs and poor Early Access sales. As a result, plans for a full release of Jumplight Odyssey (which wasn’t announced for Switch) have been put on hold due to the loss of the entire team. The release of Solium Infernum in the new year, however, has not been affected.

Hands On: Atari 50 Gets Even Better With Adventure II, Warbirds, And More

Home-brewing a winner.

Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration was already a remarkably comprehensive package when it launched back in 2022, boasting over 100 games from Atari’s history from its humble arcade beginnings to the ill-fated Jaguar console.

Seemingly not content to leave it as it is, however, developer Digital Eclipse has launched the first of several free updates, adding 12 games to the line-up comprised of official titles, unreleased prototypes, and homebrews. While the update is unlikely to convince anybody not already sold on the idea of playing games based largely on tech from the late ’70s, the additions here are going to prove invaluable to fans who might have missed out on homebrew curios like Adventure II and Return to Haunted House.

“Street Fighter With Pillows”? This Family-Friendly Fighter Swings Onto Switch Next Year

Pillow the belt.

The Switch isn’t short of fighting games; if you want to duke it out as adorable animals, heroes in a half shell or beloved Nintendo characters, the console has got you covered. But what if you wanted something a little softer? Something that has all the hallmarks of your favourite fighting games, but without the intense violence that (understandably) underlines the genre? Pillow Champ looks set to fill that niche in Spring 2024.

We had a chance to check out the game in an online presentation and, on the surface, this is a straight-up fighter. It’s “Street Fighter with pillows,” the Frosty Pop developers told us, and we can see why. You choose to play as one of eight pillow-wielding warriors and your goal is to use your bedtime bludgeoning tool to wish your opponent ‘nighty night.’
