We have seen a good few Pokémon clones over the years, but very few have been quite as, ermm, out there as Palworld, the creature-collecting RPG… with guns. Well, it has launched into Early Access on Steam today.

Originally revealed at Indie Live Expo 2021, Palworld has everything you would expect from a Pokémon knock-off: catching, battling, suspiciously similar character models, sweatshops. You know, all the standard traits.

Fighting game when?

In an official confirmation on social media, Japanese fighting game specialist Arc System Works has revealed it was the developer behind the new Switch release Another Code: Recollection.

Cing shut up shop years ago, so it’s no surprise to hear someone else handled it but we’ve now got an official confirmation. Here’s the rough translation, courtesy of Google:

Try Eastward ahead of the DLC’s release.

Europe’s next Nintendo Switch Online Game Trial kicks off today in Europe, and it’s for Pixpil’s beautiful pixel art adventure Eastward. From now until 24th January, you can try out this unique game for free if you’re subscribed to the Nintendo Switch Online service.

Eastward was published by Chucklefish and arrived on the Nintendo Switch in 2021 and takes place in a world filled with MIASMA. The survivors of this moved underground and above ground, abandoned towns and structures have been filled with overgrown plants and unusual creatures.

Papa’s got a brand new bag?

The hybrid nature of the Nintendo Switch means that it’s often an item that ends up getting chucked in a rucksack or carried around when we leave home, and, to that end, we’ve seen a host of carry cases and bags designed to accommodate not just the console itself, but its various accessories and add-ons.

San Fransico-based WaterField Designs has produced several Switch-focused storage options, usually focusing on a high level of protection twinned with premium materials and a fashion-conscious appearance – as well as a lofty price tag to match.

Another chance.

Our first big Switch exclusive of 2024 arrives nice and early and, rather than assuming the form of one of Nintendo’s bigger franchises — we got Fire Emblem Engage this time last year — we are instead winding the clock back to 2005 and 2009 respectively, to dive into swish remakes of a pair of cult classic adventures from the DS and Wii.

Another Code: Two Memories (Trace Memory in the US — which you can find reviewed here) and its sequel, Another Code R: A Journey Into Lost Memories, may not have been the most obvious of ways to kickstart a new year, but they are a deep cult cut that have deservedly garnered a following over the years.

“It all starts with a book”.

The “library battle simulator” Library of Ruina, which was previously released on the Xbox and PC, will finally be getting a worldwide release on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 this Spring. Arc System Works will publish the ProjectMoon developed title and it will be available for $39.99 (or your regional equivalent).

In this title, you take control of a library director who welcomes guests, battles them and when they’re defeated are turned into books. According to the trailer description, there are over 100 hours of gameplay as well as music and art collections to enjoy.

Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there’s been a lot of debate about Xbox published titles on other platforms, so what’s the latest?

Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella has told Bloomberg this week how he feels Xbox has a better chance of being a “good publisher” for all platforms (including Nintendo), now that the deal with Activision and Blizzard has closed.
