Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Gameplay Presentation Coming Tomorrow From Eiji Aonuma

Upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is getting a ten minute gameplay presentation tomorrow from Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma.

Announced in a tweet from Nintendo of America (below), the presentation (which wasn’t explicitly called a Nintendo Direct) will take place on March 28 at 7am Pacific / 10am Eastern / 3pm UK (so midnight in AEST).

“Join The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma for roughly ten minutes of gameplay from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” the tweet said, adding that it can be watched on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.

The presentation will be the first major, uninterrupted chunk of Tears of the Kingdom gameplay we’ve seen, with Nintendo previously only sharing shorter clips in various trailers.

While we’ve done our best to break these down and extract every piece of possible information, seeing an extended look at the gameplay alongside commentary from Aonuma will shine a whole new light on the highly anticipated Breath of the Wild sequel.

We already know that Tears of the Kingdom will have the largest file size of any first party Nintendo Switch game, include classic enemies from Ocarina of Time, and cost a heftier than usual $70 to match its scope, but the main reason fans are excited is because Breath of the Wild is considered one of the best games of all time.

In our 10/10 review, IGN said: “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is evocative, exhilarating, and a masterclass in open-world design.”

Slay The Spire Downfall mod developers are making their own tabletop fantasy roguelike

Slay The Spire has remained an incredibly popular deckbuilding roguelike, so it naturally invited a healthy modding community that added fun stuff to the game – goofy googley eyes included. One of Slay The Spire’s most popular mods was called Downfall, a huge fan-made expansion that added tons of playable characters, a new mode, and more. Those developers – Table 9 Studio – are now back with their own not-modded game: an auto-battling, fantasy Chess roguelike called Tales & Tactics.

The silence is over! The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is getting a focused gameplay trailer tomorrow, 28th March.

At 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST tomorrow (or 12am AET on 29th March), Nintendo is dropping a brand new video focused entirely on the highly anticipated sequel to Breath of the Wild. Series producer Eiji Aonuma will be on hand and “roughly 10 minutes of gameplay” will be shown.

From ’22 to ’23, the San Diego Studio Gameplay Development Team continues striving to reach all types of players.

  • High fielding attribute matters more now than ever before. The disparity between players in-game with high vs. low fielding attributes is more noticeable. Players with a lower Fielding attribute will react slower and have worse jumps to contact made off the bat compared to players with a high Fielding attribute.
  • When it comes to our throwing interfaces, we have a couple to select from depending on player skill and engagement level. Our more player-friendly interfaces, Buttons and Analog, rely heavily on the Arm Accuracy attribute, which has been tuned to be in line with MLB statistics. Elevate your game with the Button Accuracy Meter, where you are in complete control of your throws.
  • The pitcher-batter dynamic is better than ever with the revamped competitive gameplay engine. And don’t worry, Casual or Simulation fans, we have also tuned and balanced those gameplay styles as well.  
  • We’ve added over 5,000 gameplay animations to MLB  The Show 23. We have hundreds of new animations ranging from: rob foul ball, dives, hot shot variety at the corners, and as always, animations for urgency and efficiency.

The Face Scan feature will allow you to scan your face and upload it into MLB The Show 23 with an internet-connected compatible mobile device and internet-connected compatible console.Download the MLB The Show companion app from the App Store or Google Play store. Take your selfie from the app and hit the upload button prompt once you’ve linked your companion app to your MLB The Show account. Once you’ve uploaded your face scan into the game, you can edit your hairstyle, facial hair, and fine-tune your skin tone. You can use your new avatar with your face in all game modes that support your created player.

Franchise mode and March To October both received overhauls to the amateur draft scouting and signing system this year, but that’s not all.

Former Playground Games Studio Head Gavin Raeburn Forms New Studio

Forza Horizon developer Playground Games’ co-founder and former studio head Gavin Raeburn has revealed his new AAA studio Lighthouse Games.

Raeburn and “a team of world class developers” are currently working on an unannounced new IP, but shared no details as to what this will be or if it’s even in the racing genre.

As the former executive producer on several Dirt and GRID games, however, and the studio head of Playground as it produced five Forza Horizon games, it’s perhaps likely that Lighthouse is working on a new racing game.

Raeburn is joined by 30 former colleagues including “key founding members” of Playground Games and other industry-leading talent, again alluding to the creation of something new in the racing game genre.

“I’m delighted that 30 former colleagues and other industry heavyweights have chosen to join me at Lighthouse,” Raeburn said.

“With Horizon, Playground and I created one of the most successful Xbox franchises of all time. We delivered significant commercial success year after year, to massive critical acclaim, following the success from my time at Codemasters leading Dirt, Grid and F1.

“That DNA is now at Lighthouse, and with it, we intend to build something truly special using all our experience to create a new genre-defining franchise.”

It’ll be a while before we find out what that franchise is, of course, given that Lighthouse Games as a studio has only been announced today, and likely years longer before the game is released.

Raeburn’s pedigree speaks for itself and he wasn’t wrong about the success of Forza Horizon. IGN has awarded every single game in the franchise at least a 9/10 in our reviews, with the latest Forza Horizon 5 reaching a new level and earning masterpiece status.

Playground has deviated from the Forza Horizon series for the first time in its history though, as it’s now working on the Fable reboot coming to Xbox Series X and S.

It’s unclear if this pivot has anything to do with racing veteran Raeburn’s departure, though he is part of the second group of developers to leave Playground in almost as many months. Forza Horizon 5 creative director Mike Brown left to form Maverick Games in January, taking lots of top talent with him.

The Sims 4 and your ears pricked up during this month’s reveal of Paradox Interactive’s upcoming life sim Life By You, you might want to check your PC’s specifications before it enters early access later this year. During a chat with Paradox Tectonic’s general manager Rod Humble at this year’s GDC, I spoke to him about whether there was any plan to accommodate lower-end PC specifications when Life By You enters early access this September, and he answered by urging players to take its minimum PC specifications “seriously”.

Left 4 Dead 3 is a non-priority, according to Counter-Strike 2 files

Counter-Strike 2’s files. The mention of “Left4Dead3” was recently spotted in CS2’s files (thanks, Reddit) which sparked online speculation for a third game in the series. The files state that the “severity” is “high”, the “version” is “2”, but what about the “priority?” Bad news for fans of the run-and-gunning zombie shooter: according to the files, the priority is “none.”
